It's that time of year again! Starting immediately, films can be submitted for consideration for the 21st Neisse Film Festival, to be held May 14-19, 2024. Eligible films for the competitions include feature films, documentaries or short films that were produced in 2023 and 2024 and which were produced or co-produced in one of the three neighbor countries: Germany, Poland and/or the Czech Republic. This Call for Entries ends on 31 December 2023. Film selection will be finalized by April 2024.
Once again in 2024, the awards consist of a handmade Neisse Fish and a total of 10 awards adding up to a total of €26.000. Alongside the awards for best film and the audience favorite, awards will be given for example for best acting, best screenplay and best production design. In addition to this, there is a Special Prize for one film from the entire film festival repertoire which treats other countries and cultures with respect, and in so doing paves the way for more dialogue.
The form for submissions is available online via the button. Alternatively, submissions are also possible via FilmFreeway...
The Neisse Film Festival, begun in 2004, takes place each May. With over twenty screening locations along the Neisse River in Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany, it is truly one-of-a-kind. This is especially noticeable with the trinational competitions with current feature films, documentaries and short films. The festival program also offers films on select other topics as well as concerts, readings, exhibitions and parties. Each year the Focus film theme directs the attention to life and people of and in the three neighboring countries and eastern Europe. With the title "Female Perspectives," this year's Focus draws special attention to female perspectives in cinema.
