On Sunday evening May 31st, the 23rd NEISSE NYSA NISA FILM FESTIVAL came to an end in the tri-border region on the Neisse. Over 6,000 film fans and guests experienced around 100 films in the three competitions and various film series during the trinational film festival in 19 cinemas and cultural venues in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic, accompanied by film discussions, a reading, concerts, workshops, open-air cinema, and more. Under the title 'Transformations,' this year's festival focus series was dedicated to the post-reunification transformations in the three countries and Eastern Europe.

The international festival team, led by the duo Clemens Meyer and Andreas Friedrich, can look back after the final credits on an eventful and sunny festival week: “This year, the NFF was characterized by an intense and communal atmosphere. We are particularly pleased that the audience came to the cinemas in such large numbers despite the great weather. We see this as a particularly strong signal of the festival's importance for the cultural landscape in the region. The positive response from both local and international audiences encourages us on our path and forms the basis for our work in the coming years. That many guests were able to gather with us, exchange ideas, celebrate, and watch films is also thanks to our institutional supporters, sponsors, and partners, but above all it is a merit of the entire festival team and the many volunteers, without whom the NFF would not be possible in this form. Our personal thanks, and mine, go to them,” explains Clemens Meyer, co-director of the NFF since December. “Through this varied and wonderful support, I can look back on my first edition of the festival more than satisfied and look forward to the future with anticipation,” Meyer continues.

The 24th NEISSE NYSA NISA FILM FESTIVAL will take place from May 25 - 30, 2027.
