NFF 2026 opens with “Home Stories” by Eva Trobisch
On May 26, the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater in Zittau will host the opening ceremony of the 23rd NEISSE NYSA NISA FILM FESTIVAL. The festival will kick off with a screening of the feature film “Etwas ganz Besonderes” (Home Stories) by director Eva Trobisch.
The film, which previously celebrated its world premiere in the Berlinale competition, is a sensitive family drama about identity, heritage, and self-discovery. At its center is 16-year-old Lea, who, in search of answers to the question “Who am I?”, must find her place in life amid conflicting family expectations and her own desires. Eva Trobisch, who has already garnered international attention with her earlier works, continues her exploration of complex female characters and societal influences with her new film. The choice of the opening film underscores the NFF’s commitment to bringing current social issues to the forefront of cinema while simultaneously showcasing outstanding cinematic styles.
The complete festival program will be published on April 26.
