Under the title of "Female Perspectives" the special focus series in this year's festival program will be dedicated to the female perspective in more than just cinema. In addition to a broad spectrum of films, other events such as a special evening on May 16 at the theater in Zittau entitled "An Evening for Thomas Brasch" in which Marion Brasch will present a collage of her brother's works. Thomas Brasch left the GDR in 1978 and was never truly received by the BRD either. In his poetry, theater pieces and films he confronted societal contradictions in a very acute, powerful and original way and with an urgency which is more timely than ever. The program will be accompanied by the Berlin musician Masha Qrella, who has developed an hommage to Thomas Brasch, creating songs based on his poems and in her typical style of indie pop sound between new wave, electronic and post-rock.
